Corruption in the Philippines forced foreign economic financial assistance on hold
Another failure in the eyes of our foreign neighbors and fellow Filipinos. In a recent development, Philippines failed to achieve the economic financial assistance package from the US Millennium Challenge Corp. or MCC due to poor performance in fighting corruption and good governance.
With the numerous scandals that are being linked to the Arroyo administration and the failure to provide proper investigation, transparency and accountability in government dealings, the grade for the Philippines eligibility to access some assistance continues to slide. The local and international community somehow lost its confidence to some top officials for it's involvement in different irregularities.
MCC's decision to suspend the grant is right until the government review and check it's policy in protecting the people and end corruption.
