6 year-old Falcon Heene aka "balloon boy" found safe

6-year-old Falcon Heene aka "balloon boy" who made the public and authorities on red alert after many feared that he was trapped inside a homemade, helium-powered aircraft in Ft. Collins, Colorado. After few hours, the kid was found safe hiding in a box in the attic of his family's home.

The height of the suspense started with the hot air balloon chase and when balloon aircraft landed 60 miles from its starting point in Fort Collins, no kid was found.

Falcon’s father Richard Heene is a storm chaser and scientist. Their family have appeared on the reality series “Wife Swap”.

DFA Philippines e-passport online application will start August 26

Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is widening up their services to all the Filipinos as they will start accepting passport applications (ePassport) online starting August 26, Wednesday.

Using the online appointment system through dfa.gov.ph, applicants must fill up the required fields on the online application form, DFA will inform the prospective applicant of his/her schedule by electronic mail.

Requirements for e-passport application:

* Old passport
* One photocopy of old passport data page
* Valid identification card
* The duly accomplished passport application form

10 Filipinos died in helicopter crash in Afghanistan

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) confirmed yesterday that 16 people died in a helicopter crash at a key NATO airbase in Afghanistan on Sunday and 10 of them are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The 10 Filipinos were legally deployed three years ago but due to imposed ban in Afghanistan, they were unable to return to the Philippines.

Due to engaging high salary (approximately 10x better), Pinoys prefers to stay and seek jobs against banned countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Nigeria.

Metro Rail Transit starts 24-hour operations on June 1 (Philippines)

Call centers agents with late night shift and other night workers will now feel more secure as they will get a reliable mode of transportation late at night.

Helping the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) will now expand into 24-hour operation starting June 1.

According to transportation undersecretary and MRT-3 general manager Reynaldo Berroya, their study shows that most call center agents were found to leave their offices at around midnight and at 4 a.m. At this period, most buses and jeepneys are in their garages already.

In MRT website, the extended hours from 11:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m.

Considering it is now a rainy season, commuters can now access safe and easy transportation at night.
