We are deeply saddened by the devastation and suffering caused by the recent earthquake in Haiti. The people of Haiti are in our thoughts and prayers.

We are pleased to accept President Obama’s request to lead private sector fundraising efforts. In the days and weeks ahead, we will draw attention to the many ways American citizens and businesses can help meet the urgent needs of the Haitian people.

Americans have a long history of showing compassion and generosity in the wake of tragedy. We thank the American people for rallying to help our neighbors in the Caribbean in their hour of suffering – and throughout the journey of rebuilding their nation.

Manny Villar Noodles, controversial?

Many Filipinos are deeply battered by typhoon "Ondoy" (Ketsana) and typhoon "Pepeng" (Parma), right now international aids and local donations are now pouring in to help victims who are still living in evacuation centers and still stranded at their home.

Pagodkanaba blog wrote an article about a politician and his relief efforts which is good but somehow it delivered disgusting annoying impression. It seems doing deeds really has a price and an agenda.

Relief goods like can sardines, rice, instant noodles are being distributed by Senator Manny Villar's camp (I'm not anti nor pro Villar) but his interest to help are being doubted by some Filipinos. A photo from Pagodkanaba blog shows his picture is in the instant noodles.

All Filipinos knows that he is running for President in 2010 and it seems he forgot to take a timeout in campaigning or he simply don't want some people to claim the credits. (Lol!)

There are also other politicians doing this things. Later, I'll post it too.

Transparency in using Calamity funds

Many Filipinos are still struggling with the aftermath of typhoon "Ondoy" (Ketsana) and typhoon "Pepeng" (Parma) in which relief are very much needed. The government is busy appealing for international aid but some of their actions is now being doubted.

As the government seek more funds and planning to extend the state of calamity for a year, many are now thinking and suspicious if the said funds will really go to the victims and infrastructure project. Integrity is still the biggest problem of this Administration.

A smell of corruption-misuse are brewing with this funds and possibility of diverting this funds for the upcoming 2010 Philippine national election.

The Filipinos wants transparency and it is now time to put on a proper study about the preparedness procedures for future disaster.

Until now, many typhoon victims are not still receiving the proper help that they needed.

After "Ondoy", Typhoon "Pepeng" is moving in northern Luzon

Victims of storm "Ondoy" (international name Ketsana) in Metro Manila and Central Luzon are still struggling and slowly salvaging what its left in their properties but sadly to say another storm is threatening again their lives. Typhoon "Pepeng" (international codename Parma) continued to move towards northern Luzon.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said "Pepeng," may develop into a super typhoon, will move closer to Catanduanes by Friday morning and Saturday morning.

Another possible devastation is now being monitored by the authorities. Preparation are now being conducted.

Fatalities in storm "Ondoy" is now over 300. In NDCC (6 am reports), total of 512,092 families or 2,506,845 persons have been affected and 277 dead.

Prayers for my fellow Filipinos and other victims outside the Philippines. "Ondoy" also devastated Vietnam and Cambodia.

Calamity loans for victims of "Ondoy", easy grant?

Many are glad on the great news about Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Pag-Ibig Funds announcement that they will provide emergency-calamity loan to the victims of tropical storm "Ondoy" (international name: Ketsana) but suddenly I realized that how can you get a loan if your supporting papers are wash up by the flood or under the mud.

Reality check, services like in GSIS showing quick result is just a media publicity. The reality is many are doubting if the state-run insurance agency can easily grant the victims without their usual specific requirements.

I hope the two agencies have setup a easy processing procedure so that the victims of storm "Ondoy" can avail the needed loan and start their lives again.

Actually before the storm, GSIS is still having problem with the pensioner's pension plus granting loans due to their reason: computer upgrading. Hmmm.......
